An all to familiar view (Open)

Colin was more familiar with the rooftop of the castle than he would care to admit. Finding his way up here on many an occasion to get away from things. Varying from the noise of the common room, some homework, or even more importantly certain particularly bothersome ghosts. He usually enjoyed the ghosts randomly about the castle some s sad and other so odd. However they tended to avoid the roof.

Meaning up here he could find quiet and peace. Opening a book he took from the library about something completely unrelated to classes. Unless there was one on hexes he did not pay attention to which was rather likely considering his attention to lessons. Mostly as they seemed watered down for obvious reason he learned more on his own.

The air flowing around her invigorated her. Freyja loved tearing around on her broomstick - it gave her a fantastic sense of freedom that she only ever felt in the air, away from everything and everyone. Besides, an aerial tour of Hogwarts was long overdue. She knew that she had been told to only stay in the marked areas, the "safe" areas, but it wasn't enough. She needed some freedom, especially now that she was away from the contraints of Beauxbatons once and for all.

Freyja looked down, surveying the castle from about 10 feet above its highest ramparts. Frowning, she looked closer. There appeared to be a boy sat on the roof, reading. Carefully lowering herself, she floated a few feet in front of him, just over the ramparts. He looked to be about her age, which was a first - everyone she had met so far had been a good few years younger than her. She smiled, and made her broom make a swishing noise. "Hello... what are you doing up here?" Her high-pitched voice carried acros the open air. A stupid question, certainly, but a valid one.

The world would be a much simpler place if she had brought her broomstick. She wouldn't have had to find her way up onto the roof, for one, and she probably would've been able to get there from the courtyard. But Manuela didn't have her broomstick with her at Hogwarts, and she couldn't right well wait for hers to be sent from home, and she certainly wouldn't want to arouse suspicion by asking around to borrow someone's.

Another way it would have been more simple would be if she hadn't had to get onto the roof at all. But that would require her not to have let her bat out the night before, and that would have required her to have not ever gotten a bat, and because that would change her life so drastically, it probably wouldn't have been simpler at all, just different. Manuela hated reasoning with herself. She always lost, and lying was no good.

She tried very hard not to have any thoughts at all as she climbed up the final steps that led to the top of the school. Which, of course, proved difficult, as that itself was a thought. She stood up, her eyes on the ground-- well, on the roof below her-- and before she could lift her head to begin searching for her bat for the fourth time that year, she froze.

"Hello... what are you doing up here?"

She didn't answer, she had been silent so far and hoped to remain to be so. Maybe if they couldn't hear her, they'd stop seeing her too. Slowly, she looked up, not knowing what exactly to expect. Instead of some horror, she was relieved to find that it seemed that no one had noticed her-- the voice must have come from the lucky girl up on the broom stick, and she appeared to be speaking to a boy a little ways in front of Manuela; Colin, judging by the coat.
